Creating spaces for connection, climate resilience, and action in Gainesville, FL.

As Florida experiences intensifying climate impacts, Climate Cafe GNV brings people together to process what is happening, strengthen relationships, and connect to meaningful ways of responding.

We believe communities are better equipped to face climate challenges when people know one another, support one another, and have meaningful ways to contribute. In a warming world, one of the most powerful things we can do is deepen our connection to ourselves, to one another, and to the places we call home.

It doesn't take an expert to see that climate change is shaping daily life across Florida. We're living with stronger hurricanes, hotter summers, rising insurance costs, and yes, even more evenings spent swatting mosquitoes.

The impacts extend from our infrastructure and ecosystems to our conversations, our relationships, and our sense of the future.

That's why Climate Cafe GNV brings people together to reflect, connect, and discover meaningful ways to care for themselves, their communities, and the places they love.

However climate change is showing up in your life, you don't have to navigate it alone.

Our Offerings

Climate Cafe Sessions

Inspired by communities around the world, our climate cafes offer welcoming spaces to reflect on how a changing climate affects our lives, communities, and sense of the future. Facilitated by trained volunteers, these gatherings provide informal, respectful, confidential peer support and meaningful connection.

Arts & Culture

Art, music, storytelling, and creative expression offer powerful ways to explore our experiences, imagine new possibilities, and strengthen community. Through performances, workshops, and skill shares, these events make climate conversations more accessible, hopeful, and human.

Civic Conversation

Our discussions, book club, film screenings, and community dialogues create opportunities to explore climate-related topics with curiosity and respect. By bringing together diverse perspectives and lived experiences, these gatherings encourage learning, understanding, and thoughtful engagement.

Climate Wayfinding

Many people want to contribute but aren't sure where to begin. Climate wayfinding connects residents with local opportunities that match their interests, skills, and values, from conservation and preparedness to community gardening, river cleanups, citizen science, and advocacy.

Expansion

We are developing programs to expand peer support access to youth, parents, older adults, and Spanish speakers. We also look forward to forming responsive, community-centered partnerships with cultural and environmental justice organizations to meet the needs of those most directly impacted by our warming world.
